BLE 2018: Penguin and Barbour partner on new The Snowman Christmas collection

Barbour has partnered with Penguin Ventures to create a new Christmas collection using iconic images of The Snowman from the classic Raymond Briggs original children’s picture book.

2018 marks 40 years since the first publication of The Snowman, a book that has managed to capture the wonder and innocence of childhood across the generations.

In a collection designed for women and children, iconic images of The Snowman are used on brightly coloured knitwear, jerseys, tees and accessories.

Key pieces within the collection include the ladies Barbour Highfield knit featuring a classic image of The Snowman in the centre of the jumper, a crew neck and is a comfortable, casual fit, ideal for weekend wear over the festive season.

It can be accessorised with the Barbour Highfield tartan scarf in classic Barbour tartan. In 100 per cent lambswool, this beautiful scarf features The Snowman tab at the bottom corner.

Within the children’s collection, the Blake tee is a standout piece. A short sleeve tee featuring a classic image of The Snowman, it’s available in navy and grey marl while billed as a perfect Christmas gift set for the young lady of the house is the Barbour Chloe knitted beanie and twisted yarn mitts with The Snowman tab detail.

Paul Wilkinson, global marketing and commercial director at Barbour, said: We are delighted to be partnering with Penguin Ventures to celebrate the 40th anniversary of The Snowman. It is a classic and much loved story which has become an established part of family Christmas traditions.

"It embraces the spirit of spending quality time with loved ones at this special time and the joy of sharing memories and making new ones. The Barbour x The Snowman collection features fun, easy to wear pieces, guaranteed to raise a smile at Christmas time.”

Jen Greenway, softlines category manager, Penguin Ventures, added: We are delighted to revisit our relationship with Barbour and to launch this fantastic Snowman product range. Barbour and The Snowman share a perfect synergy as classic, British brands and this beautiful range will appeal to fans of both.”

From November 12, Barbour’s retail stores will promote the collection through point of sale, windows, in store gift tables and exclusively designed carrier bags. A special limited edition The Snowman pin will be given away with every Barbour purchase.

The Barbour x The Snowman Christmas collection will be available to purchase from Harrods, House of Fraser, John Lewis & Partners, selected Fenwick stores, and selected Barbour stores nationwide from 12 November 2018.
