Boomerang launches in Korea with new content

Kids channel Boomerang is expanding its footprint in Asia with a Korean debut to 15 million households.

The channel will be available from November 14th on major cable and IPTV platforms.

Boomerang is already available in Southeast Asia and in Australia, and boasts a line-up of household names and cartoons for kids and families.

Phil Nelson, MD of Turner International for North Asia, said: “Boomerang’s arrival in Korea will be the perfect accompaniment to Cartoon Network, the country’s No.1 international kids’ channel.

“Turner has already made a firm commitment to the local animation industry over the years and this investment is set to continue.”

Boomerang will be available in Korean and will feature exclusive content including new episodes of The Tom and Jerry Show, Looney Tunes and Scooby-Doo.

Plus, kids can view new shows and episodes such as the upcoming series Wabbit and Bunnicula.

The channel will also feature a range of Korean content, while a Korean-microsite is also available alongside the on-air offering.

There are also plans in the works to localise Boomerang Watch and Play, an Asia Pacific-based app that hosts video and gaming content.
