Branded Entertainment Network appoints new senior director of merchandise licensing

Branded Entertainment Network is continuing to grow its Greenlight team with the appointment of Ryan Kernan as senior director of merchandise licensing.

Kernan will be based in New York City and will report to Tamra Knepfer, senior vice president of BEN and Greenlight.

As part of his new role, Kernan is responsible for developing strategies and executing programmes to maximise licensing opportunities across the firm’s portfolio of personalities. These opportunities will span wholesale, direct-to-retail, direct-to-consumer and other licensee relationships across a broad range of categories.

He will be concentrating his efforts around key estates including Sophia Loren, Buzz Aldrin, Albert Einstein, Steve McQueen and Thomas Edison.

“With so many retailers and consumers looking for new and exclusive product, there is an incredible opportunity to bring the international and cross-generational appeal of our represented personalities to life in new ways,” said Kernan.

“BEN represents an impressive and well-respected roster of global talent and I am thrilled to be part of the Greenlight team working to create new, brand-right merchandise programmes that enhance our icons’ legacies and introduce them to the retail community and consumers in new and innovative ways.”

With over ten years experience, Kernan is an industry veteran who has helped to expand the reach of global brands across the home furnishings and apparel industries. He brings a combination of market knowledge, brand management skills and a proactive, strategic approach to merchandise licensing.
