British sweet brand Love Hearts makes licensing move with Brand of Brothers

British sweet manufacturer Swizzels has transformed its popular Love Hearts sweets into a unique range of ice lollies.

Manufactured by Brand of Brothers under license from Swizzels, the new range of ice lollies have been developed using popular Love Hearts flavours including Cherry Lime, Pineapple and Lemon.

In developing the line, Swizzels has looked to stay true to the Love Hearts’ romantic heritage adorning every lolly stick with its own message of love. The lollies are also designed to look like a classic Love Hearts roll, bringing in the retro look of the brand.

According to IRI Total Marketplace data, Swizzels is the fastest growing sugar confectionery manufacturer in the UK, seeing sales rise 18 per cent year on year. The brand has been making Love Hearts since 1954 and now produces 1.75 billion Love Hearts every year.

Mark Walker, sales director at Swizzels, said: “Our Love Hearts brand has been around for over 60 years and is still popular today as it was when it first launched.

“Brand of Brothers are delighted to be working with us on one of our most established brands, introducing Love Hearts ice lollies in time for the summer months.

“We ensured that our Love Hearts messages were made prominent across the range as they are the essence of the brand. As a result, the lollies have been very well received by customers.”

Swizzels is the UK’s largest family-owned independent sugar confectionery business and one of the few confectionery companies still to manufacture sweets in the UK.

The company makes a range of well-known products including Love Hearts, Squashies, Refreshers, Drumstick Lollies, Rainbow Drops, Double Lollies and Fruity Pops.

The product range is currently on sale in ASDA, Tesco, Morrisons and Eden Farm Hulleys.
