Bulldog and Lazy Oaf strike deal for Garfield clothing range

Bulldog Licensing has agreed a deal with Lazy Oaf for a range of Garfield fashion apparel.

The high end line-up will arrive in stores next year and will see the iconic cat grace shirts, shorts, dresses, jeans and swimsuits.

"We are excited to work with Garfield, he is such a great fit with our approach to life here at Lazy Oaf,” said Gemma Shiel, director at Lazy Oaf.

“We are looking forward to producing a range he would be proud of".

Garfield clothing already has a presence in the UK with Blues, Silverknit, Somerbond and Brand Alliance also handling apparel licences.

Other partners for the cat include Ravette for publishing, for online personalised greetings and gifts, Smiffys for dress up costumes, MGML for greetings cards, wrap, tags and social stationery, Heroes for Kids for cake toppers, and J Fox for accessories.

“Garfield is already massive in the apparel sector and Lazy Oaf will be tapping into a huge fan base for this classic brand,” added Bulldog MD Rob Corney.

Garfield first appeared in cartoon strip in 1978 and has since gone on to hold the Guinness World Record for the most syndicated cartoon strip, sell over 135 million books and star in two TV series, two live action films and three CGI movies.
