Call of Duty Mobile has become the second most downloaded launch in history, knocking the recently launched Mario Kart Tour off its perch on the mobile gaming podium.
The mobile version of the first person shooter franchise has amassed 148 million downloads since its launch on September 30 this year, making it the second-most successful mobile launch of all time.
The title did belong to Nintendo’s Mario Kart Tour just a week ago when it hit 129 million downloads, but the Mario-fronted racing game was soon toppled. 2016’s Pokémon Go is still the all-time leader at 163 million downloads.
The Call of Duty has seen 16 per cent of its total downloads in the US where it has been downloaded 23.6 million times. India has so far accounted for 11 per cent of total downloads, with 16 million.
The game has also generated $53.9 million in player spending, grossing more than 15 times the total PUBG Mobile secured in its first month of release in February 2018.
Meanwhile, Call of Duty : Modern Warfare, which launched in October this year, generated more than $600 million in its first three days.
