Temple Street Productions’ reality-style teen series The Next Step has been licensed by BBC Worldwide to a number of key territories.
The show is heading to the US on Hulu, the UK on CBBC, Australia on the Disney Channel, Italy on Sky Italia and Croatia on Hrvatska Televizija/HRT.
“The Next Step has seen terrific success in Canada and we are thrilled audiences around the world will have the opportunity to join in on the exciting drama and amazing dancing in this captivating series,” said John Young, managing director, Temple Street Productions.
The Next Step follows the lives of a group of dancers at The Next Step Dance Studio as they attempt to win at the highest level of dance championships.
“The Next Step is an exciting and original concept that taps into the current trend for scripted reality series and we’re delighted to have such an impressive list of broadcasters already on-board," added Henrietta Hurford-Jones, director of children’s at BBC Worldwide.
The popular ‘tween’ series received the 2013 Shaw Rocket Prize for Best Children’s Programme.
Commissioned by Family Channel, The Next Step is produced by Temple Street and is executive produced by van Keeken, Ivan Schneeberg and David Fortier. BBC Worldwide handles the international rights to the series.
