Cbeebies favourite Waybuloo set for China launch

CBeebies favourite Waybuloo is set to launch in China next month.

CCTV has taken all 150 19-minute episodes of the series for its children’s channel CCTV-14 and will officially launch the series dubbed into Mandarin in March 2015.

Licensing partner Guangzhou Huaen Century Culture Communication will launch a range of Waybuloo products including plush, toys and DVDs, with more products planned to follow.

There will also be a sneak preview of the series on CCTV-14 during the Chinese New Year holiday period, plus during bespoke holiday programming Waybuloo costume characters will feature with the new plush range as give away.

BBC Worldwide has brokered the new deals in China and represents all rights for Waybuloo across China.

Jean-Philippe Randisi, CEO, Zodiak Kids – which owns worldwide distribution and licensing rights to Waybuloo – said: “We are delighted that Waybuloo will be launching in China across television, DVD and consumer products. CCTV will be an ideal partner to bring this landmark series and its central characters the Piplings to new audiences.”

Waybuloo is the hit CBeebies television show that explores emotions and relationships, taking young children on a journey through stories of co-operation, friendship and enjoyment. The programme is set in the land of Nara where the four main characters, the Piplings, live.
