CBS prepares launch of first Official Star Trek Podcast

CBS is readying to launch its first official Star Trek podcast, featuring special guests including Weird Al Yankovic and US film critic and Trekkie, Jordan Hoffman.

Launched by CBS Radio, CBS Local Digital Media and CBS Consumer Products, Engage: The Official Star Trek Podcast has been launched to help fans celebrate the sci-fi franchise’s 50th anniversary this year.

The podcast will be hosted by film critic and One Trek Mind blog writer on, Hoffman, with the first three episodes featuring special guests including Yankovic and son of iconic Star Trek actor Leonard Nimoy, Adam.

Over the course of the series – landing on from June 15th – Hoffman will engage with enthusiasts, interview guests and delve into the minutiae of the 50 year old fictional universe.

“There is no better way to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Star Trek than with the official podcast coming to CBS Radio and CBS Local Digital Media,” Said Andre Fernandez, president, CBS Radio.

“It is a groundbreaking and noteworthy franchise that we are proud to be a part of.”

Hoffman added: “star trek is more than just a collection of television shows, films, books, comics and toys for me – it is one of the greatest loves of my life.

“It’s a relationship that has evolved over time and has created true, lasting connections. There’s nothing I like more than meeting someone who be Trek-curious and guiding them toward full-fledged devotion.

“I want this show to engage with the hardcore and the neophyte alike. It’s a big galaxy out there.”

The first three episodes of the hour-long podcast will be available on Wednesday, June 15th via, iTunes and Starting June 22nd, new episodes will be released weekly.
