Character World continues global expansion with new sourcing director

UK licensing specialist Character World has appointed Gavin Thomson as its Shanghai-based sourcing director.

Thomson joins the firm boasting extensive experience in sourcing and operatins roles across several Hong Kong firms including the likes of Li & Fung fashion, LF Asia and The Just Group, as well as Woolworths.

In his new position, Thomson will be responsible for developing Character World’s relationships with suppliers worldwide. He takes up his role at a key time for the Cheadle-based business, as it continues its plans for ‘ambitious international growth.’

The firm, that specialises in licensed duvet sets and bedroom accessories, has secured a number of pan-European contracts with global licensors over the last two years, including Disney, Marvel and LEGO.

Mark Schweiger, joint managing director at Character World, said: “We are extremely pleased to have Gavin on board – his experience and knowledge of the international market will be a real asset to us as a business.
