Character World forges ahead with international expansion

Homewares and textiles specialist Character World is continuing to build up its international business.

The ambitious firm has secured contracts with retailers in Benelux, France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Greece, Austria, Poland and Croatia.

Among its portfolio of licensed brands available in the area are One Direction, Sonic the Hedgehog, Super Mario Brothers, Peppa Pig and Plants vs Zombies.

"Internationalisation is a key strategic growth plan for Character World," said Gareth Davies (pictured), sales director for the firm. "We are delighted with our first 12 months trading in Europe, achieved by our experienced and professional EMEA sales team.

"Our strengthening portfolio of licences and year to date performance indicates rapid growth through 2013 and beyond, as we open further prestigious retail relationships in existing and new territories."

To support the expansion, Character World exhibits annually at a number of European trade events including Heimtexil and Ambiente in Frankfurt and the Nuremberg Toy Fair.

The business’ EMEA operation is headed up by European sales manager, Irene Vedder. The firm is looking to further expand its team overseas in order to meet its ambitious sales targets.
