Sony’s Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 has topped the UK box office, reports Screen.
The sequel managed £3.66m, including £1.55m in previews, to bump DreamWorks’ Turbo off the top spot.
The first film managed a debut of £1.6m in the UK, with a final total of £6.5m, meaning the sequel is already half way to topping its predecessor.
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 also marks Sony’s best opening of 2013.
Elsewhere, Turbo added £1.3m to make fourth place in the top ten, and now stands at £6.2m.
This Wednesday sees the latest Marvel movie land from Disney in the shape of Thor: The Dark World.
It follows Iron Man 3, which made a UK debut of £13.7m earlier this year, before eventually crossing the $1 billion worldwide mark in May.
