Agency to launch event-led consumer products drive for 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

CPLG scores a slam dunk with International Basketball Federation

CPLG has secured a new partnership with FIBA, the International Basketball Federation.

The agency will act as the worldwide exclusive licensing representative for 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup in Spain and 2014 FIBA World Championship for Women in Turkey.

It will be launching an event-led consumer product programme for the World Cup, with CPLG’s Barcelona office leading the initiative. The firm will also look to appoint sub-agent representation in Turkey.

The World Cup runs from August 30th to September 14th, 2014 in Spain, while the World Championship for Women runs from September 27th to October 5th, 2014.

"We are delighted to be collaborating with FIBA on this unique sporting event," said Peter Byrne, CEO of CPLG. "We plan on working closely with them to launch a targeted international licensing programme that capitalises on the huge popularity of basketball, not only in Spain, but across Europe and the world."

Patrick Baumann, FIBA secretary general, added: "With our two flagship events just over a year from now, we are striving to constantly improve in making them world class sporting events that captivate the attention of billions of basketball and sports fans worldwide."
