Cuphead secures high end character statue deal with Legion Studios

King Features Syndicate is expanding its licensing programme for Studio MDHR’s hit video game, Cuphead even further, having secured a new partnership with Legion Studios for a range of high-end character statues.

The latest signing follows news that the cult hit video game has landed its own animated series on Netflix.

Meanwhile, Legion Studio’s premium line of resin statues will feature hand-painted renditions of the iconic video game’s characters Cuphead, Mugman, King Dice, The Devil, and Ms. Chalice. Available this autumn, the limited-edition statues will be sold across the United States and Canada.

“Cuphead has exploded into a true cultural phenomenon. We are thrilled to work with Legion to create a line of cool collectibles that will allow fans to bring their favourite characters into their homes,” said Jarred Goro, vice president, North American licensing for King Features.

“We are extremely excited to bring our premium line of Cuphead statues to this wonderful and dedicated fanbase,” said David Casi, co-owner and creative director of Legion Studios. “These statues will maintain the outstanding quality of the original artwork, bringing these colourful, fan-favourite characters to life in three dimensions.”

Cuphead continues to be celebrated by fans around the world for its arcade action gameplay, original art design and award-winning soundtrack featuring almost three hours of original jazz, early big band and ragtime music.

The game has sold over 4 million units worldwide and won over 20 major awards, including Special Achievement in Animation at the 45th Annual Annie Awards, Xbox One’s Game of the Year, a BAFTA Games award for Music, and a trio of accolades at the 2017 Game Awards for Best Debut, Best Independent Game and Best Art Direction.
