Danger Mouse and Inspector Gadget will be joining the roster of popular kids’ animated series to feature on the online streaming platform, Netflix US.
The TV and film network has partnered with FremantleMedia Kids and Family Entertainment and DHX Media to bring both Danger Mouse and Inspector Gadget to audiences across North America, Latin America, Nordics, Benelux and Japan.
DHX Media’s new CGI animated Inspector Gadget is expected to air on Netflix US this March, before appearing on Netflix in Latin America, the UK, Ireland and France at later dates.
“Inspector Gadget is one of those classic properties that is perfect for a contemporary version,” said Josh Scherba, SVP distribution at DHX Media. “And we are delighted that beginning this March in the US, the bumbling bionic detective will reach a whole new generation of fans on Netflix.”
The deal between DHX Media and Netflix surfaced as the SVOD platform bolsters its kids’ entertainment slate with new animated and live-action comedy series, including Some Assembly required, Bottersnikes & Gumbles and Super 4.
“We have seen great characters and rich storytelling work for a global audience time and time again,” said Erik Barmack, vice president of global independent content.
“That’s why we are proud to be working with some of the industry’s best producers and animators on these shows and we can’t wait for kids and families all over the world to get to know these stories.”
Danger Mouse is due to premiere on CBBC later this year.
