DC Thomson eyes new titles ahead of London Book Fair

DC Thomson has lifted the lid on new published titles for The Beano, The Broons and Oor Wullie and Commando as the firm gears up for London Book Fair 2015.

The licensor is heading to the show to present opportunities for its portfolio of brands as well as outline it plans for Jackie and collections of archive comics.

Tim Collins, head of brands at DC Thomson has said the firm is looking at creating new reading experiences across both print and digital formats.

“London Book Fair is the ideal platform for us to showcase our iconic brands and for us to forge interesting new partnerships with third party brands,” he said.

The Beano is leading DC Thomson’s slate at this year’s show, looking to expand on recent strides in the publishing arena in partnership with Penguin random House for The Diaries of Dennis the Menace.

Meanwhile, in partnership with Black and White Publishing, DC Thomson will unveil an extensive range of publishing additions for The Broons and Oor Wullie.

Having launched Jackie in 1964, DC Thomson has seen the title sell one million copies per week before its eventual closure in 1993.

The firm is now launching a unique selection of consumer products inspired by the 1970s teen title. The team is keen to present gift and novelty publishing opportunities for the brand at London Book Fair.
