Disney pushes The Jungle Book back to 2016

Disney has delayed its upcoming live action version of The Jungle Book.

The film was scheduled to hit cinemas on October 9th, 2015, but will now open on April 15th, 2016.

Bill Murray, Ben Kingsley, Idris Elba and Scarlett Johansson are all lending their voices to the film, which will be a blend of live action and CGI and is being directed by Iron Man’s Jon Favreau.

As well as Disney’s version, Warner Bros is also putting together a darker Jungle Book film with Andy Serkis in the director’s chair.

Titled Jungle Book: Origins, the film will land in cinemas in October, 2017, over a year after Disney’s effort.
