Disney sets new international box office company record

Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International has set a new company record for international box office figures with $2.314bn reached for the year-to-date, reports Screen.

This marks the fourth year in a row that Disney has passed $2bn at the international box office, and this new record beats the previous best of $2.302bn in 2010.

While Thor: The Dark World helped to push the company into the record figure with $109.4m already achieved from 37 countries in three days, Iron Man 3 with $806.4m and Monsters University on $475.1m have been Disney’s biggest hits of 2013.

Disney still has Thor: The Dark World to open in the US, as well as Saving Mrs Banks and Frozen to hit cinemas later this year.
