Disney’s Big Hero 6 tops US box office

Disney’s Big Hero 6 has topped the US box office in its first weekend on release.

The film beat Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar to the top spot and is on course to make over $56 million in three days.

Big Hero 6, inspired by the Marvel comic of the same name, follows the adventures of a young tech wizard named Hiro, who following the death of his brother, inherits a robot named Baymax. When a super villain threatens to destroy the city of San Fransokyo, Hiro, Baymax and a group of firneds team up to rid the cityscape of the crook.

Disney’s Big Hero 6 lands in the UK and Ireland on January 30th, 2015.
