Following the news that Disney will create a live-action version of Mulan, the upcoming film has now gained a director in the form of Niki Caro.
Caro is the second female to direct a film with a budget of over $100 million, and previously worked with Disney on the 2015 drama McFarland USA.
Disney has assured fans that the film, which is based on Mulan, a peasant girl who heads to the army in disguise as a man to save her father’s life, will be culturally authentic in the re-make.
The studio is also reportedly bringing Hong Kong-based producer Bill Kong on as the film’s executive producer.
Disney’s live-action version is slated for release on November 2nd, 2018.
