DNC, the UK housewares and food and drink product specialist it expecting to see a “dramatic uplift in sales of its classic and movie Spider-Man licensed ranges” this summer, coinciding with the cinematic release of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Far from Home.
The company has benefitted from a partnership with Disney at the start of the year, that saw the UK outfit secure the rights to the studio’s halo portfolio, including Toy Story 4 and Avengers: Endgame.
To date, Marvel is the number one film franchise, grossing $20bn at the global box office and dominating the UK box office. Avengers: Endgame was the biggest UK opening to date.
The firm is now confident of the success of its ranges, given the early success of Spider-Man: Far from Home, which has become the fourth biggest opening film in the UK this year at £14.1 million.
Jenni Leprevost, marketing director for DNC, said: “With the breadth of franchise offer this deal spans, we are developing product programmes relevant to all consumer segments spanning pre-school, school age children, fans and young adult as well as delivering event and seasonal opportunities.
“Our product strategy for Spider-Man ensures availability of product all year round with a classic offer supplemented by our movie range.”
Gary Barret, national account manager at DNC, added: “Since taking on the full Disney portfolio at the beginning of 2019 we have noticed a marked halo effect around the both Toy Story 4 and Avengers: Endgame releases.
“Furthermore uplift around the Avengers release was seen on both Avengers and Spider-Man product. We expect to see the same dramatic uplift for both movie and classic Spider-Man ranges around the release of this movie and have a broad range of products to ensure we maximise sales.”
