Packing boxes is about to get a lot more interesting as adhesive tape brand Duck makes its first foray into licensing with Frozen and Inside Out.
Brand owner, Shurtape has partnered with Disney to launch the UK’s first collection of licensed Duck Tape, inspired by the hit animated film Frozen.
Since the launch of its Colours range in 2013, the Duck Tape brand has managed to diversify its offering beyond the stationery and packaging markets to target the craft and consumer audience.
Shurtape has already seen positive reaction to its licensed lines in the US, and is now expecting to see the same success in the UK market.
Alan Murray, head of marketing at Shurtape, said: “As you would expect, the licensed character tapes are extremely popular for the Duck brand in the US, so we are expecting the same success here in the UK.
“Having now established the Colours range with listings in key high street retailers, it was important to kick off with a brand that would demonstrate our commitment to the consumer market.
Frozen was always the number one choice, having generated well over $1.3 billion at the box office and already proved itself to be a merchandising dream.”
The Duck Tape Frozen range features two designs: Anna and Elsa as well as the popular Olaf. Billed as safe for adults and children alike, each roll retails at around £6.
“It is testament to the success of Duck Tape that we have a brand as strong as Frozen working with us,” continued Murray. “We will be promoting the tapes through a proactive marketing campaign and provide in-store POS to further boost sales in the key Autumn period towards Christmas, plus there is still time to ass a little sizzle to your Back to School assortment.”
Shurtape will announce further character ranges in the near future.
