Oscar-winner Eddie Redmayne is to star in the forthcoming Harry Potter prequel, Fantastic Beasts and Where They Come From.
Redmayne will play Newt Scamander – the foremost magiczoologist in the wizarding world – in J.K. Rowling’s new project.
Scamander will be at the centre of the new movie, exploring the world for magical creatures to discover and catalogue in the title Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
The book later becomes a textbook used by Harry Potter and his friends in the book and film franchise.
Warner Bros. president of creative development, Greg Silverman, said that Redmayne had “emerged as one of today’s most extraordinarily talented and acclaimed actors.”
The studio is “thrilled to welcome him into J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World, where we know he will deliver a remarkable performance.”
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is scheduled to hit the big screen on November 18th, 2016.
