4Kids Entertainment and Mirage Studios have approved the development of the first ever theme park attraction for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
The ride - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 4D Dark Ride - is planned for SciFanta's new Incheon, South Korea-based indoor theme park, which is due to open in April 2011.
4Kids and Mirage will work with location-based firm 3DBA, which develops and delivers attractions and entertainment experiences to theme parks, shopping malls and other entertainment venues, along with Falcon's Treehouse.
"We are delighted to be partnering with 3DBA and Falcon's Treehouse on the design and master planning of the attraction," said Al Kahn, 4Kids' chairman and CEO. "These companies are recognised leaders in bringing immersive and interactive experiences to fruition all over the world."
Gary Richardson, CEO of Mirage Studios, added: "Announcing this newest entertainment vehicle for the Turtles is gratifying on two levels. It affirms the Turtles' staying power, particularly this year with our 25th anniversary 'Shell-ebration' activities in full swing, and it ensures a new generational fan base will be able to experience and enjoy the property for years to come."
