4Kids Entertainment continues to build up its portfolio, adding Jim Henson Designs' The Scribbles characters.
Inspired by original scribbles by Henson himself, the 14 characters are meant to showcase a variety of emotions, hopes, dreams and fears.
They were introduced in Japan last year, with a variety of products including apparel and accessories for children and adults, plush and collectibles. 4Kids' agent Global Brands is currently negotiating additional licensing deals in multiple categories.
"We identified this as a key property for Japan since Jim Henson is a global icon," said Marcia Aoki, MD of Global Brands Japan. "The Henson legacy, coupled with the fact that the art is so adorable and translates in any language, is what is making the brand a success in Japan."
