Launched by Project 109 in South Korea in 2005 and in other territories the following year, Chicaloca was given the Korean Character Award by the country’s Culture and Tourism Ministry in 2006 and 2008.
The brand is popular with both teenagers and young adults and seeks to represent an independent, sexy and chic attitude through its designs.
An extensive style guide and over 40 licensees in the 15 territories where Chicaloca is already established.
Existing licensees include apparel, stationery, swimwear, watches, mobile accessories and bedding. Chicaloca has also appeared on a range of i-mini laptops in China that sold out within three days of launch. Additionally, Chicaloca images have been used by Samsung as the face of an advertising campaign for the Kenox camera.
