With celebrations for the 25th anniversary of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles continuing, 4Kids Entertainment and the Marine Conservation Society have struck up a partnership which will see the characters lend weight to the campaign to save endangered marine turtles in the waters around the UK.
A donation on behalf of TMNT has been made by 4Kids to the charity, while, as part of the campaign, the Turtles will be present at the Society's Cool Seas Roadshow, which will tour schools throughout the UK during 2009.
The Marine Conservation Society tackles litter, pollution and other threats to endangered marine turtles, as well as promoting turtle conservation in the UK and around the world. The MCS Cool Seas Roadshow visits primary schools all over the country, spreading the message about the endangered creatures and what can be done to help.
As sponsors, TMNT banners will adorn the roadshow backdrop, a TMNT-themed page will be added to the Cool Seas website and participating children receive a Ninja Turtles postcard featuring a call to action.
"This partnership with the Marine Conservation Society is an inspired link," said Sandra Vauthier-Cellier, MD of 4Kids. "The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are distinctive, well-liked and well-known everywhere, which makes them perfect characters to shout about this good cause and to promote the action needed to help real marine turtles."
