Aardman Rights has acquired international distribution rights for new science-themed cartoon, Science Fiction.
The Kite Entertainment show is aimed at eight to 12 year olds and is currently enjoying success on RTE in Ireland. It has also just launched on CBBC.
Aardman's exclusive deal includes global TV, DVD and publishing rights for the 33 x 90-second episode show.
It uses a mix of green-screened puppetry, 3D animation and 2D cartoon sketches to delve into the world of science and technology. It aims to debunk many of the most common myths, as well as throwing in a few ridiculous and rude ones for good measure.
"We love how well Kite Entertainment has married up their expertise in comedy writing with relevant and off the wall scientific facts, and we believe there's a real gap in the market for this kind of programming for older kids," said Alix Wiseman, head of sales and acquisitions at Aardman Rights.
