Aardman reveals Chat-O-Matic app starring Wallace and Gromit

Widebeam Digital teams with firm for 'groundbreaking' iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch app.

Aardman Rights and app developer Widebeam Digital have teamed up to launch the Wallace and Gromit Chat-O-Matic app.

The app uses pre-captured frames and reanimates them within the app in real time.

It is pre-loaded with 48 sayings from Wallace including 'Someone's been at me cheese' and 'Hold tight lad and think of Lancashire hot pot'.

In Chat-O-Matic mode, fans can select their favourite phrases and, when they turn their Apple device over and place it under their nose, they have the animated mouth and voice of Wallace.

"In true Aardman style, the Chat-O-Matic app breaks mobile and animation boundaries," said Rob Goodchild, head of licensing at Aardman Rights.

Joe Morsman, senior developer at Widebeam Digital, added: "It's been a pleasure working with the Aardman ream to develop this groundbreaking app. We have utilised the latest technology to bring Wallace to life in a fresh and innovative way that we're certain will engage fans of all ages."

The app is available for £1.49 for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.
