Aardman has revealed that it has begun production on its next two full length feature films, called Arthur Christmas and Pirates.
Pirates is based on The Pirates (in an Adventure with Scientists) from the best selling series of books by Gideon Defoe. The movie will be created with the same hand-crafted technique which Aardman brought to the feature films Wallace & Gromit in The Curse of the Were-Rabbit and Chicken Run.
The story will follow the fortunes of a cheerful but hapless pirate band as they cross the seven seas in search of adventure.
Meanwhile, Arthur Christmas is an ambitious computer animated feature. Aardman is working closely with Sony Pictures Imageworks on the animation for the film.
In 2007, Sony Pictures entered into a three-year, first look deal with Aardman Features.
