Astley Baker Davies has re-animated series one and two of hit pre-school show Peppa Pig to include car seatbelts and bicycle helmets.

In addition, all characters will be seen wearing them in future episodes.

The studio spent nine months completing the revisions to 104 episodes and a Christmas special in response to a complaint from one mother who wrote to Nickelodeon earlier in the year.

The episodes have been re-mastered in high definition and will be replacing DVD stock when it sells through.

"As parents ourselves we understand how influential a favourite cartoon character can be to a young child," said Phil Davies, producer of Peppa Pig at ABD. "The success of the show is rooted in the fact that Peppa's world is a reflection of the real world and part of the appeal for children is that they learn about the world through Peppa's adventures.

"We also acknowledge our responsibility as producers of children's entertainment to encourage children to have fun safely."
