Angry Birds Star Wars II will launch in app stores on September 19th and will focus on the prequel trilogy of movies.

For the first time, players can ‘Join the Pork side’ and play as a bad pig and the new game will also use interactive toys thanks to Hasbro’s Telepods technology.

In the game, new characters and powers can be unlocked by placing one of the collectible Telepods toys on the phone or tablet camera and scanning it into the game and over thirty figures will be available at launch in September.

Players can also choose which character they want to use in the app simply by placing a toy onto the device, ‘teleporting’ that character into the game.

“Hasbro worked closely with both Rovio and Lucasfilm to deliver a fully integrated Telepods experience with the new Angry Birds Star Wars II app,” adds John Frascotti, chief marketing officer at Hasbro.

“Now fans can enjoy unprecedented and seamless dual play in both physical and digital Angry Birds experiences.”
