Walker Books has hired Anna Hewitt as its new head of licensing, a key move in its growth strategy for the UK and international in-house licensing division.

Hewitt joins the children's book publisher from Coolabi - where she held the same role - later this month. She will report in to Julia Posen, the firm's marketing, licensing and brand director.

Hewitt will oversee major in-house brands based on Walker published properties, including Maisy, Guess How Much I Love You and new brand Tilly and Friends.

"Anna is joining Walker at an extremely busy and exciting time," commented Posen. "I wanted to create a licensing team from the best in the business, and with Anna heading up the team we are off to the best possible start."

Hewitt, who prior to Coolabi developed the international licensing strategy for several brands at BBC Worldwide, added: "This is an incredibly exciting time to be joining Walker Books and I look forward to building the licensing business both in the UK and internationally, and working with some of the most successful children's book properties around."
