Apple named world's 'most valuable' brand

Firm tops Interbrand's annual countdown of the top 100 global brands; Disney also makes top 15.

Interbrand has revealed its annual listing of the top 100 global brands - with Apple winning out over Google and Coca-Cola.

Coca-Cola had topped the chart each year since its creation 13 years ago, but this year was ranked at number three behind the smart phone maker and search giant.

Notably, technology brands enjoyed the biggest growth in brand value - Google was up 34 per cent year on year, while Amazon (at number 19) was up 27 per cent and Facebook (number 52) was up 43 per cent.

In terms of consumer products and entertainment brands, Disney was the highest placed, coming in at number 14, with a three per cent increase in brand value over 2012.

Other brands making the list included Microsoft (5), McDonald's (7), Samsung (8 - up 20 per cent in brand value on 2012), BMW (12) and Louis Viutton (17).
