4Kids subsidiary 4sight Licensing Solutions has signed up to represent a new collection of imagery inspired by the artwork of Katsushika Hokusai.

The new series is a 'reimagining' of Hokusai's original works from the 18th and 19th centuries including silk paintings, woodblock prints, picture books, manga, travel illustrations, paintings and sketches.

Already a hit in Japan, the licensing drive will debut in select retailers in the US in 2011. A European roll out will follow. It is likely that fashion apparel and accessories will be followed by a home décor line, including textiles, home accessories and room décor.

Additional categories will include publishing, stationery and collectibles.

"This extensive collection of reimagined artwork made for today's trendsetting consumer is contemporary and relevant, while paying homage to the great historic originals," said Rosalind Nowicki, executive VP of licensing and marketing at 4Kids.
