Ashes glory takes licensing drive to new level

ECB and CPLG Sport see surge in branded merchandise following England victory.

After the success of England's cricketers on the pitch in The Ashes tournament last weekend, licensees are now reaping the benefits of increased sales of licensed product.

Licensed product includes clothing, accessories, footwear, toy cricket equipment, Haynes cricket manual, commemorative coins and calendars.

Apparel licensee Brandco Management, which produces polo shirts, t-shirts, fleeces, hats and accessories, has seen orders surge.

"Our England cricket ranges have always been good performers, but as the year has gone on so demand has increased," explained MD Martin Aynsley. "The start of the Npower Ashes Series saw an immediate increase in repeat sales, but the series win over Australia has boosted sales still further with re-orders coming in for our Winners range at an amazing rate."

Tom Roe, commercial manager at CPLG Sport, added: "Cricket continues to push new boundaries and with the England team continuing to perform admirably, there really could be no better time for licensees and retailers to get involved with the England Cricket licensing programme."
