Asian markets see raft of Nickelodeon activity

New product lines, pop-up shops and events boost properties.

Nickelodeon & Viacom Consumer Products has backed a slew of product lines, pop-up shops and events across Asia.

Bringing to a close to the festive season, The Spongebob Squarepants Bobster Bash at Jakarta's Senayan City included the Spongebob Krabby Patty Celebration Live Show, photo opportunities with 3D statues, arts and crafts activities and purchase-related promotions.

2012 also closed with the launch of retro Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles apparel in seven Shoe Mart department stores in the Philippines. The promotion included a Turtles drawstring bag giveaway with every purchase.

Meanwhile, in Singapore, the events included two live shows - Bikini Bottom Live Show ar Bukit Panjang Plaza and A Christmas Wish Live Show at Lot One Shoppers Mall - plus further giveaways with Nickelodeon product.

Product created for the pop-ups included apparel (such as t-shirts, trousers and jackets), bags, cushions, accessories, gifts and novelties.

Similarly, in China's capital Beijing, NVCP worked with fashion brand Bait and lifestyle brand Mindstyle on a pop-up featuring co-branded Spongebob Squarepants products, such as shoes, caps and eyewear.

Moving on, and to support the new CG animated series of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, a raft of product crossing multiple categories will be hitting stores in Singapore from May 2013.

Product categories will include apparel, stationery, bags, homeware, cakes, toys, accessories and footwear.

Similar lines will also be launching in the Philippines in June.
