AUSTRALIA: Thomas & Friends remains in pole position

Hit's pre-school licence continues year-on-year growth with sales up 13 per cent.

Hit Entertainment has revealed that Thomas & Friends has remained in the number one position for another year in Australia, according to latest GFK data.

For December, Thomas & Friends was ranked as Australia's top pre-school licence, with year to date sales up more than 13 per cent.

The growth of the property is attributed to its strong broadcast performance on ABC and Nickelodeon, plus a solid licensing programme driven by Haven, the Australian agent for Thomas & Friends.

"Thomas & Friends is now an intrinsic part of our pre-school culture," said Peter Byrne, executive VP of consumer products international, Hit Entertainment. "There is no other pre-school property in the industry today that shares its rich heritage, timeless appeal and such a loyal following.

"Thomas & Friends continues to be a brand that is trusted by parents and loved by children all over the world and we're thrilled that the property continues to go from strength to strength in Australia."
