Platinum Films has appointed Big Balloon as its Australian toy partner for Matt Hatter Chronicles.

The deal will see Big Balloon distribute and market the debut toy range from international master toy partner Simba Dickie Group. It follows on from Platinum's recent appointment of Haven Licensing as licensing agent for Australia and New Zealand.

"From the moment we saw the Matt Hatter programming and toy line developed by our partners Simba, we just had to work with Platinum and Haven on this must-have brand," said Chris Loverso, sales and marketing director at Big Balloon.

"The boys' action aidle has to be at the forefront of innovation, entertainment, role-play and collectability and Matt Hatter delivers on all fronts.

"We are now developing the launch programme and already we're receiving an excited response from all our retail partners for a launch in early 2015."

The latest signing reflects the growing popularity of Matt Hatter Chronicles in Australia on Network Ten's digital free to air channel, ELEVEN. Since the first two seasons launched in 2013, the show has been a ratings winner for Ten's Toasted TV kids' block, with Network Ten also picking up the new third series.

"Big Balloon is the perfect partner to successfully spearhead the Matt Hatter consumer products programme in Australia - their commercial infrastructure, industry expertise and underlying passion is first class," said Nigel Stone, Platinum Films' CEO.
