BabyTV builds retail presence in China

Channel's products available for the first time at retail in the territory.

Fox International's BabyTV channel has launched products for the first time in China.

The firm released the 12 titles of its dedicated DVD series with Chinese home video distributor Guangzhou Tianyi.

Through Guangzhou Tianyi's country-wide distribution network, parents now have the opportunity to purchase the BabyTV DVDs in 800 stores, as well as at Tianyi's 65 own sales counters in areas including Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Tianjin, Chengdu, Nanning, Hangzhou and Guanzhou.

In addition to each title being sold separately, the offering also includes a 12 DVD box set.

"Our agreement with Guangzhou Tianyi has kick started our retail visibility across China," said Ralf Kies, SVP licensing and content sales for BabyTV. "We plan to add more key product categories throughout 2014 and beyond as we keep building our licensing and merchandising infrastructure in this large country."



BabyTV launched in the UK in 2003 and rolled out into international countries two years later in 2005. Within two years, the channel was available in all five continents.
