BabyTV is aiming to build on its retail presence in Latin America, with the newly established Fox Licensing & Merchandising handling its programme of activity.

The new business unit has been set up by Fox Latin American Channels. Building on BabyTV's existing licensing partnerships with Ansaldo SA and Partyexpress Chile SA, and with licensing agent P&L Global, the new division will manage the brand's expansion across home video, toys, publishing and other product categories relevant for infants and toddlers.

An initial wave of products - including a baby gym, soft books and soft musical toys - is due to hit stores in Q2 2012.

On top of this, BabyTV has signed up Character Mix Srl as its licensing agent for Argentina and Uruguay.

"Latin America has quickly become one of our strongest and most promising markets for the creation and distribution of BabyTV licensed consumer products," said Ralf Kies, director of global licensing and merchandising at BabyTV. "I am sure our current and future licensees and retail partners will benefit from this new structure and I look forward to working with the team at Fox Licensing & Merchandising."

BabyTV launched in the UK in 2003 and rolled out into international countries two years later in 2005. Within two years, the channel was available in all five continents.
