BBC wins big at Children's BAFTAs

Something Special and Peppa Pig pick up awards while kids vote for Bin Weevils and Temple Run.

A host of celebs and kids entertainers, including the likes of Dick and Dom and Jedward, gathered to celebrate the finest in kids entertainment at the Children’s BAFTAs last night.

CBBC and CBeebies shows won a host of awards, hosted by Barney Harwood, at the London Hilton.

CBBC was named Channel of the Year while CBBC and CBeebies programmes Horrible Histories, Friday Download, Peppa Pig, Justin’s House, Something Special and Roy won individual awards. was declared winner of the BAFTA Kids Vote for 'Best Website' for the second year running.

The win for best Presenter for Something Special was Justin Fletcher's third at the kids BAFTAs.

Turner’s The Amazing World of Gumball picked up two gongs for best Animation and best Writer.

The Hunger Games was named best Film of the year while Blue Zoo Productions was named won the best Independent Production Company award.

Last year’s monster hit Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure was picked as Best Video Game.

Kids voted Bin Weevils as the Best Website and chose Temple Run as favourite app. Other winners in the Kids Vote categories were The Smurfs for best Feature Film, and Disney’s Good Luck Charlie for Best TV Show.
