BBC Worldwide creates chief brands officer role

BBC Worldwide has appointed a new chief brands officer, as part of its restructure from divisional to geographic lines of management.

Amanda Hill (pictured) - currently MD for BBC Earth - will join the senior executive team and be responsible for developing an overall strategy for BBC Worldwide's global brands across all businesses and formats.

This will include the current brand portfolio of 14 properties - including Dancing with the Stars, Top Gear, Doctor Who and Cbeebies - while also developing and building new BBC brands.

"The BBC is one of the greatest broadcasters and the most trusted brands in the world, and I believe passionately about the role it plays internationally and here in the UK," Hill commented. "With the rise of truly global digital channels, now is an incredible time to bring the BBC to the world, and the world to the BBC."

Paul Dempsey, interim CEO at BBC Worldwide, added: "Amanda has an outstanding record in growing brands such as Walking with Dinosaurs and BBC Earth, and I have no doubt that she is the right person to build and develop our core brands around the world."
