A more upbeat consumer environment has seen High Street sales rise again for the week ending October 25th.

The latest BDO Sales Tracker showed overall sales up 2.5 per cent, with all three sectors witnessing higher like for like sales.

Non fashion (up 4.8 per cent) saw sales grow for the ninth week in a row. However, growth dipped week-on-week, despite the weakest comparisons of the year, with demand in some categories surprisingly soft.

Meanwhile, fashion was up 1.6 per cent, with footwear, lifestyle and formalwear performing especially well. Homewares also experienced an upturn, up 1.4 per cent, with sales advancing for the first time in three weeks.

Non store, meanwhile, rose 44.9 per cent, despite the start of the postal strike.
