Hot on the heels of its plush deal with Jumbo at last week's Toy Fair for Big & Small, Kindle Entertainment has revealed some strong audience figures on Cbeebies for the new pre-school series.
Airing daily at 8.10am, Kindle says that the show is dominating its time slot for four to nine year-olds. Big and Small started strongly with 107,000 children recorded as watching the first day of the series (October 6th 2008), and increased over the 11-week period by almost 50 per cent to 147,000 children recorded on the final day (December 19th).
Among parents at home with children aged between 0 and three, the ratings were a further success, with an increase from 55,000 to 104,000 (BARB December 2008).
The licensing programme for Big and Small - handled by Ian Downes at Start Licensing - is already well underway.
Outside of the UK, Studio 100 has sold the show to over 40 territories, with an on-air launch on Canada'a Treehouse planned for February 28th, followed by a DVD roll out. The UK DVD release is scheduled by ITV for Easter.
"The success of Big and Small on Cbeebies in such a short period of time has been truly fantastic and a clear indication that the values, humour and quality of the show are enjoyed by children and parents across the country," said Anne Brogan, founder and director of Kindle Entertainment.
"Moving forward, we plan to continue to build on the positive connection with the brand and with the expertise of an extremely passionate team, we look forward to announcing further exciting developments throughout 2009."
