FremantleMedia Enterprises has announced at Brand Licensing Europe a swathe of licensing deals for the Rebecca Bonbon brand.
Bonbon, created by Hello Kitty designer Yuko Shimizu, has enjoyed a spell of popularity in Japan, and a number of brand management groups are keen on replicating that commercial success in the west.
In the UK the brand will be brought through fashion lines, with nightwear and daywear deals in the pipeline.
Impex is producing Rebecca Bonbon fashion bags, Groovy is to launch a range of jewellery and various gifts, while Roy Lowe and Sons will be producing Bonbon branded socks and tights.
Meanwhile, Italian licensee Sicem International is developing t-shirts, sweatshirts, fleeces, trousers and jackets for ladies and girls, set for launch across Italy January 2011.
Other licensees producing gifting lines will be announced soon, FremantleMedia Enterprises said, with toiletries, cosmetics and greeting cards deals expected.
In Portugal JF Ramos will produce a range of girls’ apparel , and in Germany the retailer OTTO will stock various Bonbon apparel.
“FME is continuing to grow Rebecca Bonbon as a global lifestyle and fashion brand, and partnering with licensees who understand the local markets plays a major part in developing the brand,” said the company’s licensing boss Mark Newton.
“Her universal charm continues to appeal to both consumers and licensees, with whom we share the same vision.”
FremantleMedia Enterprises is building on its momentum, with two more deals made at this week’s Brand Licensing Europe event in London. The firm has signed new deals with Poshpaws International to produce gifts such as beanies, pyjama cases, hot water bottle covers – all available from August 2011.
Meanwhile, Aykroyds & TDP Licensing Limited will launch a range of nightwear – from pyjamas to dressing gowns, ladies and girls' nightdresses, and other apparel. All will be available for launch from September 2011.
