BLE 2014: Random House Enterprises readies Matt Sewell's Birds

Artist will be demonstrating art style with graffiti and watercolours.

Random House Enterprises is gearing up for the launch of Matt Sewell's Birds at next week's Brand Licensing Europe.

Renowned for his bird illustrations, Sewell will be demonstrating his art style with graffiti and watercolours on the RHE stand to raise money for The Light Fund.

Sewell - who has been described as the Banksy of the bird world - was artist-in-residence on BBC2's Springwatch Unsprung back in June. His books - Our Garden Birds, Our Sony Birds, Our Woodland Birds and Owls (to be published in November) - showcase his quirky, pop art watercolours which are now being developed for merchandise.

Sewell has previously designed apparel and accessories collections for companies including Paul Smith and Barbour.

RHE is now looking to build on this success and develop a merchandise range centred around apparel, homewares and gifting.

"Matt's bird illustrations, with their intricate style and vibrant colour palette, lend themselves perfectly to a diverse range of products and we look forward to working with Matt to build a successful product line," said Jo Edwards, head of licensing and brand development at Random House Enterprises.

Sewell will be on stand G020 on Tuesday, October 7th at 11am. He will graffiti part of the Penguin Random House stand and will then be painting watercolours, with his work being sold to raise money for licensing charity, The Light Fund.
