Leading animal charity, Battersea Dogs and Cats Home is growing its brand licensing programme, welcoming two new additions, Hachette Children's Books and Casa Chicos.

As the first apparel company to sign with The Home, Casa Chicos will produce a range of branded apparel for children and toddlers.

Meanwhile, Hachette Children's Books will be publishing a range of children's pet guides for dogs and cats in 2014.

The new partners join a list of growing licensees including Random House Children's Books, Ravensburger, Portico, Woodmansterne and Smiffys, as the brand readies for this year's BLE.

Hoping to capitalise on its current popularity following the transmission of the prime time ITV series, Paul O' Grady: For the Love of Dogs, the brand is looking to expand its licensing programme into back-to-school, gifts, apparel and home-ware.

Lucy McCredie, licensing consultant for Battersea dogs and Cats Home, said: "We are thrilled to add Hachette and Casa Chicos to our licensing programme.

"These two new partners, together with our new agreement with Random House for colour picture books really extend the range of our licensing programme for children.

"These partnerships are very important to the Home as royaties from licensed products support Battersea in caring or thousands of lost, unwanted, and abandoned dogs and cats every year."

Peter Robinson, MD of Casa Chicos, added: "We are extremely proud to be given the opportunity to work with Battersea Dogs and Cats Home for this worthy cause.

"It will give us great satisfaction knowing that sales created from our designs and products will directly help the funding for the care of all these unwanted animals.

"Children have a great affinity to dogs and cats and through their involvement with our garments, they too will start to learn about and understand the wonderful work carried out by Battersea Dogs and Cats Home to give these unloved animals another chance."

Established in 1860, the Battersea Dogs and Cats Home has rescued, reunited and re-homed over 3.1 million dogs and cats across the UK, and while the charity organisation receives no government backing, the firm is hoping to supplement its funding through its growing licensed portfolio.
