Bloomsbury Children's Books named publishing partner for CBeebies' Olobob Top

Bloomsbury Children’s Books has been named the official publishing partner for the hit CBeebies show, Olobob Top.

Sharon Hutton, publishing director for Bloomsbury Children’s non fiction has acquired world rights for a programme of books by Beakus Limited from Caroline Walsh and David Higham Associates.

Beakus Limited comprises of wife and husband Leigh Hodgkinson and Steve Smith.

The show originally launched on CBeebies in July 2017 with 26 episodes currently available in iPlayer. Since last summer, the series has had over 5.8 million requests on iPlayer with an average audience of 178,000 viewers. A further 26 episodes are expected online for spring this year.

Bloomsbury will initially publish four titles in 2018 with a further four coming in 2019. Each tranche of publishing will feature a sticker activity book with a board book publishing simultaneously.

Hutton said: “We are completely thrilled to be working with Beakus Ltd, the hugely talented Leigh Hodgkinson and Steve Smith, on this fantastic programme of books.

“The books beautifuly enhance the clever concept of the hit CBeebies show and allow children to interact with and shape their own Olobob Top creations.”

Hodgkinson and Smith added: “We are beyond excited to take the world of Olobob Top into print with these fun and bright Bloomsbury books. We know that children really enjoy the TV series, with its funny characters and stories, and these books let them explore the Olobob Forest even further.”

Olobob Top follows the adventures of three friends Tib, Lalloo and Bobble who live in the Olobob Forest. Their world is made of shapes and story sees them build new characters who come to life to join them on their adventures.

The publishing programme launches in April 2018 with Make Your Own Olobob Home and Let’s Visit the Olobobs. A further two titles will publish in August 2018: The Amazing World of Olobob Top and Let’s Visit Norbet’s Shop.

The next four titles will follow in 2019.
