Box office success for Horrid Henry boosts licensees

Flair and Asylum Entertainment rolling out new products, as film takes almost £3m in UK in first week.

Horrid Henry appears to have emulated its small screen success on the big screen - with the recent launch of the movie also helping current licensees boost awareness of their ranges.

Horrid Henry: The Movie - produced by Novel Entertainment and Vertigo Films - took just under £3 million in the UK in its first week. The film took the number four position in the UK top ten box office, and was the only non-Hollywood studio film in the top five.

The soundtrack - produced by Universal - was released in conjunction with the movie, while a new iPhone app has been developed by Aslyum Entertainment.

Horrid Henry's Horrid App is available to download through iTunes for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. It is a collection of three mini games, inspired by the movie and the CITV series.

Meanwhile, a new toy range from Flair is also available and includes an initial collection of Super Snooper, Yo-Yo, Make Your Own Slime and a Voice Changer.

"Given such strong competition, we are thrilled by how well Horrid Henry: The Movie is performing," said Mike Watts, MD of Novel Entertainment. "Feedback from Henry fans has been incredible and there is an exciting buzz online and across social networking sites from Henry's fanbase."
